We are putting on the Green!
With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, it was time to set an appropriate table.
Green is one of my favorite colors, but that could be because I was born on St. Patrick's Day!! I am not a speck of Irish, but I love to celebrate it!!
I choose Irish foods as my inspiration this year. Since I did not think it would be wise to use a hunk of Corned Beef for my centerpiece - I went with Cabbage, Parsley and Potatoes to tell the story!
It all started with the green and gold plates that were on clearance at HomeGoods. You know - I have a hard time passing up a deal!
I stacked them up with several other dishes because the green in the small square dessert plate is much more olive that the green in the patterned plate - but once I put a few plates between them it wasn't as noticeable.
This was the first time I have ever bought food to match my plates. I went to the grocery store to by some potatoes and I found my self picking out Klondike Goldust Potatoes just because they went better with my color scheme!
I added a little shamrock button to my burlap napkins to give it a little more character.
Of course I included my favorite Irish saying,
May You be in Heaven a Half Hour Before the Devil Knows You're Dead!
I celebrate every year with a traditional green beer, I would love to hear how you celebrate!
May the Luck of the Irish be with you!
